TRUSSVILLE — Tortugas Cafe in Trussville closed Sunday, Dec. 21, according to Ponder Properties, the leasing agent for the Trussville Plaza Shopping Center on U.S. Highway 11 in Trussville.
The restaurant, which features Chicago style pizza, was open less than a year. It was owned by Paul and Dawn Gagliano, who also have a Tortugas Cafe in Meadowbrook in the U.S. 280 corridor.
Ponder Properties is now looking for another restaurant to move into the space, according to Ponder Properties founder Terry Ponder. He said the landlord owns all the equipment so a potential restaurant would only have to get food and a staff, and open.
“They did a nice job remodeling the space,” Ponder said of Tortugas. “It will be a good deal for someone to take over.”
The restaurant space covers about 4,038 square feet.
Prior to Tortugas Cafe, the space was home to Neighborhood Sports Grille.
