CLAY — Hewitt-Trussville High School senior Brian Duffett is well on his way to an Eagle Scout merit badge.
Duffett since Dec. 1, 2014 has been building two arbor swings at Cosby Lake Park in Clay as his Eagle Scout project.
“I hope they do (like it),” Duffett said. “It took a lot of work.”
Duffett has been in scouting since he was a little boy. His dad was in scouting but didn’t attain an Eagle Scout badge. His older brother, Matt, earned his Eagle Scout badge by redoing the sprinkler system and planting new bushes at Faith Methodist Church in Clay.
The Duffetts, along with Hewitt-Trussville basketball players Joshua Monski and Brandon Wright, as well as baseball/football player Cyle Moore, helped during the process.
Many people walking around the lake and feeding the geese have asked Duffett what’s being constructed. The swings are set to be finished this month.
“I hope they really like it,” Duffett said.
