JEFFERSON COUNTY — An apparent woods fire is burning in the Clay-Pinson area.
The fire is on a mountain near Dewey Heights Road.
Residents of the area started posting about the fire on social media Saturday night. Fire trucks are apparently parked on Oakhill Drive.
Center Point Fire District Chief Donnie West said he believes the Palmerdale Fire District is dealing with a “large woods fire.”
According to the Palmerdale Fire District, the fire was behind Oak Hill Drive off Dewey Heights Road. It covered approximately five acres of woods.
The fire district reported it’s unknown how the fire began. Forestry came out and cut a fire break around the fire.
Palmerdale Fire units were on scene from 8 p.m. Saturday until 6 a.m. Sunday ensuring the fire remained in the break, which it did.
There were no injuries or structural damage.
