TRUSSVILLE — The Cahawba Art Association held its members’ art show and competition at the Seafood and Chicken Box restaurant during the month of November.
Seventeen artists displayed their paintings and photography at the show. Patrons of the restaurant voted for their favorite artwork throughout the month. The winner of the competition was Ellen Justice, who received a gift certificate to the restaurant, a blue ribbon and a cash prize.
The summer competition was held at The Three-Earred Rabbit in August. Artists displayed their paintings and collages of sunsets and sunrises. Margaret Fritsma was selected the winner by members of the association and received a ribbon and cash prize.
Cahawba Art Association members also display their artwork in monthly exhibits at the Trussville Public Library, The Three-Earred Rabbit and the Seafood and Chicken Box restaurant.
The Cahawba Art Association began in Trussville in 1982 with seven charter members. The club continues today with a group of local artists who meet at the Trussville Public Library at 6:30 p.m. on the second Monday of each month from September through May. Each meeting features a speaker or an art demonstration.
