TRUSSVILLE – Thursday night featured plenty of action across the area. Here is how some of the local schools fared:
SOFTBALL
Hewitt-Trussville 15, Gardendale 0: The top-ranked Lady Huskies had no issue dispatching Gardendale. Their record improves to 24-3 with the win.
McAdory 5, Pinson Valley 2: McAdory used a three-run first inning to kick things off and didn’t surrender the lead. The Lady Indians scored both their runs in the second inning, and compiled six hits on the night.
Destinee Cole was 2-for-2 at the plate and Hana Presley also picked up a pair of hits. Lauren Keplinger threw the complete game for Pinson Valley, surrendering four walks and striking out three. The Lady Indians are now 5-6 overall on the season, and hold a 3-0 record in the area.
Clay-Chalkville 6, Shades Valley 5: A back-and-forth contest through the first four innings saw the Lady Mounties clinging to a one-run lead. Clay-Chalkville scored a pair of runs in the sixth and made the lead stick to secure the area win, taking advantage of six Shades Valley errors.
Cailtin Lessley had a great game, notching three hits, the complete game win and scoring the game-winning run. She only allowed three hits and struck out nine in the circle. The Lady Cougars improved their record in the area to 3-1 and are now 8-10 overall.
BOYS SOCCER
Pinson Valley 5, Hueytown 0: The Indians shut out Hueytown and improve their record to 3-5-2 on the season.
Mountain Brook 5, Hewitt-Trussville 0: The Huskies fall to 0-4 in Class 7A, Section 6 play in their second matchup with the Spartans this season. In what has been a rebuilding year for Hewitt-Trussville, the team’s record now stands at 4-11-2.
GIRLS SOCCER
Pinson Valley 9, Hueytown 0: The Lady Indians snap a two-game losing skid and get their overall record back above the .500 mark, at 3-2.
