Entertainment, vendors, music, food… When it comes to a fun event, this year’s Relay For Life of East Jefferson (RFLEJ) has it all. From 11:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, the proverbial joint will be jumping, except in this case, the “joint” is the Mall area in the center of Trussville’s historic Cahaba Project neighborhood.
“This is going to be the best Relay we’ve ever had,” said Elizabeth Pridgen, publicity chair for RFLEJ. “There’s something for every member of the family, ”
And the entertainment lineup, said Pridgen, is beyond compare. From beginning to end, event attendees will be jammin’ to the likes of Nashville Bound, Pyrite Parachute, Two State Nation, Max Conway and the Girl Next Door, Crossing Dixie, Cahaba Lilies, Jordan Narkates, DeeDee Rockstar, Leonard Watkins and Blue Devils, and Peter Francks/Swamp Sounds.
“You can bring a chair or blanket and stay from beginning to end,” said Pridgen. “You’ll be entertained the whole time and so will the kids. We’ve got inflatables, games, prizes, a petting zoo and much more.”
RFLEJ will kick off with a Survivor Lap followed by a free Chick-fil-A lunch and a free T-shirt for all registered survivors. A special Luminaria Ceremony at 9:00 p.m. will honor those touched by cancer, both survivors and those who have lost their battles with cancer.
Admission to RFLEJ is free.
