From Tribune staff reports
TRUSSVILLE –The Trussville Tribune and media partner Cross Digital will broadcast the 2015 Clay-Chalkville High School graduation exercises on Thursday night at 7 p.m.
The broadcast will live stream on the newspaper website. Viewers may access to broadcast by going to the homepage of TrussvilleTribune.com and clicking on the banner at the top of the page.
“We’re excited for the opportunity to continue expanding our digital media offerings to our readers,” Tribune publisher Scott Buttram said. “CCHS principal Michael Lee approached Dennis Washington with the idea and we immediately saw the value in bringing a great local event not just to our readers, but to these students’ family members anywhere in the world who may not be able to attend. This is what local newspapers do.”
The broadcast live feed will begin several minutes before the ceremony starts, Buttram said.
“People can go ahead and pull the event up online and see the live camera feed until the graduation ceremony actually begins,” Buttram said.
Buttram said the newspaper and Trussville school officials wanted to broadcast the Hewitt-Trussville High School graduation on Tuesday, but those efforts were not successful.
“Trussville City Schools did reach out to us and were interested in broadcasting their graduation last Tuesday,” Buttram said. “We had worked with Hewitt before on live streaming the opening of the new football stadium and a live pregame and post-game show for Paws and Claws, so we were confident that we could put together a great broadcast for graduation. School officials really went to work to make it happen, but there was a last minute snag that prevented the broadcast from taking place. It was an issue that was totally beyond their control.”
