Special to The Trussville Tribune
CLAY —For the third straight year, Serra Toyota Birmingham has given away a new Scion tc to a local high school senior who has achieved perfect attendance for the 2014-15 academic year.
This year’s winner was Asia Taylor from Clay-Chalkville High. Taylor won the vehicle at a celebration banquet at Serra Toyota.
The event is dedicated to the memory of Christina Heichelbech, an accomplished high school junior, who was tragically killed by tornadoes in January of 2012.
Together, the Heichelbech family and Serra Toyota encourage students to realize their highest potential by rewarding them with an opportunity to win a new Scion tc.
Five local high schools participated: Center Point High, Pinson Valley High, Huffman High, Hewitt-Trussville High, and Clay-Chalkville High. Response from the students and administration of the schools has been very positive. This year, there were 71 eligible students.
Each eligible student who attended received a gift bag that included a Visa Gift card. Serra Toyota not only covered the cost of the vehicle for the winners, but also the taxes as well.
Serra Toyota is a family-owned dealership and is proud to be a partner in the Birmingham community and believes strongly in giving back to organizations and individuals who are in need of assistance. Partnerships include 3 Hots and a Cot, Grace House Ministries, The Boys and Girls Club of Central Alabama, and a number of other organizations, local schools, and athletic groups.
