PINSON – A couple of unexpected expenses have shown up regarding Pinson Bicentennial Park, one being an unforeseeable bonus.
The Pinson City Council learned that a park water main would not actually reach the new facility. The Birmingham Water Works Board has advised the council to extend the water line on Oak Street West 100 feet to the desired location at a cost of $4,200. BWWB will complete the work.
The bonus comes in the form of a piece of property between the Community Center and Bicentennial Park. The council was offered a chance to buy that property from the previous owners for $2,000.
The sale was unanimously approved, and the mayor hopes the land can be incorporated into Phase 2 of the park project.
In other business, the council unanimously approved the 2015-2016 July to June budget, and the council welcomed three new annexations.
The next Pinson Council meeting will be held July 16 at 10 a.m. at Palmerdale Homesteads Community Center.
