CLAY — According to an eye witness and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, a high speed chase Tuesday night on Old Springville Road in Clay ended in a two car crash involving a stolen Chevrolet pick up and Honda Civic. Robert Allen Kendrick, 26, of Clanton, faces a plethora of charges, including drug possession, attempting to elude, unlawful possession of a pistol and first degree receiving stolen property. He is currently in Jefferson County Jail with a bond set at $159,500.
The JCSO said the pickup was stolen in Trussville Monday during a robbery, and was being pursued by Jefferson County deputies at a high rate of speed when the suspect turned the vehicle toward Clay City Hall and struck a Honda Civic, occupied by multiple teenagers according to eye witness James Nicholas.
Nicholas said he picked up the chase after the truck nearly hit his vehicle.
Deputies discovered a handgun, marijuana and drugs in the vehicle according to a release.
No serious injuries were reported.
