BIRMINGHAM –Birmingham police have arrested a Robert Clarke, 16, and are holding him in the Jefferson County jail in connection with the shooting death of another 16-year-old Cameron Toles.
Early Saturday morning, police responded to a call of shots being fired and a person down on the 700 block of Springville Road in east Birmingham.
When officers arrived after the 12:15 a.m. call, they found Toles in a parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene according to Birmingham police.
According to the release, there was a group of juveniles in the area. Shots were fired when the group of juveniles exited a vehicle.
The altercation began because of a Facebook argument, according to police. The victim and suspect were friends at one time, police say, but the relationship severed months ago due to the argument on social media. The investigation leads police to believe the altercation on Saturday morning was over females at the location of the shooting.
