TUSCALOOSA — Jeffrey Caleb Hoggle, 22, has been charged with manslaughter in the death of Trussville native Catherine Virgona according to Lt. Kip Hart of the Tuscaloosa police.
Virgona was the passenger in a car wreck on Sept. 19 where Hoggle was the driver. The crash happened around 1 a.m. on Interstate 359 a the Interstate 20/59 interchange. Hoggle was not seriously injured in the crash, but was taken to DCH Hospital where medical records say he was impaired at the time of the wreck.
Hart said Hoggle was holding the Virgona when police arrived on the scene.
Virgona worked as a physical therapist in Trussville as well as part time at Bath & Body Works in Trussville. She was a recent graduate of the Univ. of Alabama and a former cheerleader at Shelton State Community College. Her funeral was held Sept. 25.
Hoggle was booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail and later released on $30,000 bond. The grand jury will get the case, likely in November Hart said.
