TRUSSVILLE — Two of Trussville’s teens have won titles to compete for Miss Alabama’s Outstanding Teen next March.
Local teens Lydia Martin and Madison Ward each won separate titles recently, and will compete in the statewide pageant next year. Both are students at Hewitt-Trussville High School and both are also Highsteppers.
Each of the teens have their own platforms, and both are excited to share their platforms through such a massive pageant system.
Martin, a ninth-grader at Hewitt-Trussville, chose adoption awareness as her platform, and her talent is dancing.
“I am very excited to represent the North Jefferson Area at Miss Alabama’s Outstanding Teen this year,” she said. “Most importantly, I’m excited to get to share with others what I love to do the most, which is share my platform, adoption awareness. My crown and sash enable me to raise awareness for children who are in the adoption care system.
“I hope to educate everyone about how adoption is so important and about how many children still need loving families. Every child deserves a family.”
Martin was recently invited to meet with Alabama Governor Robert Bentley as he signed a proclamation declaring November “Domestic and International Adoption Awareness Month”.
Ward is a sophomore at Hewitt-Trussville High School, and was named Miss Covered Bridge’s Outstanding Teen. Ward was excited to also share her platform by supporting Dancers Fighting Cancer-Pediatric Cancer Research. Her talent is vocal performance.
“I am excited to be named Miss Covered Bridge’s Outstanding Teen. I plan to use my talents to serve this community and raise funds for organizations that I am passionate about such as Dancer’s Fighting Cancer and Children’s Miracle Network,” Ward said.
She recently performed at the Covered Bridge Arts and Crafts Festival as well.
