BIRMINGHAM — Birmingham Police Department detectives are conducting a homicide investigation into an incident that occurred Saturday, Nov. 28, in the 900 block of 1st Street West.
The department said the victim’s name is being withheld pending next of kin notifications.
The incident occurred around 8:05 p.m., when officers from the North Precinct were dispatched to the listed location with a report of a person shot. Upon arrival, officers discovered a black male lying in the middle of the street suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the chest area. Birmingham Fire and Rescue were called to the scene and attempted to treat the victim, but the victim was pronounced deceased.
The preliminary investigation suggests the victim was in an argument with an unknown male. The unknown male shot the victim and drove off in an unknown colored vehicle.
This is an ongoing homicide investigation and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
