CLAY — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has reported 33-year-old Robert ‘Bo’ Merrill, who was reported missing earlier, has been found safe.
Earlier today, the department said it had taken over the missing person investigation of Merrill.
Merrill’s mother contacted the sheriff’s office on Monday, Dec. 7, to report that her son had been missing since the previous Friday. She reported she last saw him when he left her home near Clay at about 8 p.m. that day saying he was going to work. She told authorities she has not heard from or seen him since.
Family members working on their own later discovered that Merrill possibly traveled to at least two bars on Birmingham’s south side after leaving his mother’s home.
Social media reports his phone was known to be at Dave’s Pub on Dec. 4, but his aunt has the phone at this time.
When sheriff’s detectives learned of this they notified Birmingham Police that they had received the initial missing person report and that the Sheriff’s Office would be taking over the investigation.
The vehicle Merrill was driving was found Tuesday in Homewood. Detectives currently have no information to indicate that Merrill is in danger.
Anyone with information about his location is asked to contact the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office at 205-325-1450
