TRUSSVILLE — As drivers pass by the brand new Deerfoot Memorial Funeral Home on Deerfoot Parkway, the building on top of the hill where the road becomes a two-lane looks like a quaint funeral home.
General Manager Mike Sartin said despite the appearance of size, the funeral home does everything on site. From preparation to casket sales, Deerfoot offers a full service funeral home on the north side of town.
Sartin said setting Deerfoot Memorial apart was key in the idea of building a new funeral home in the Trussville area.
“We have a new, modern facility and our prices will be less than other facilities in the area according to their listed prices,” he said. “We’ll listen, try to meet people’s needs and give a dignified service at a decent price.”
Sartin has lived in the Trussville area for 10 years, and knows the business as he previously worked for another area funeral home.
Inside the facility is a preparation area and a planning room for families who are choosing a casket for the service. In addition, Deerfoot Memorial added a planning room for families looking to purchase cremation urns as well. The funeral home has one chapel and two parlors, although the parlors adjoin one another in the event only one family is being served and additional space is needed.
The home will host an open house on Jan. 10, 2016, to show off the new building, but Sartin said the business is open currently.
Additionally, Sartin made mention the home will honor all Brown-Service burial policies.
“It’s important we do that because a lot of people still have those, and they have a lot of benefits to them,” Sartin said. “We’re just looking forward to getting in here and trying to be a good neighbor.”
