TRUSSVILLE — Construction crews will be on site at Paine Primary and Paine Intermediate schools beginning this week as work begins to adjoin the schools into Paine Elementary School. The construction will include a new main entrance with a principal’s office, a larger library and a tornado shelter.
At this time, the current courtyard has been fenced off and some materials have been delivered, according to a letter sent to parents from the Central Office.
“We do not expect the construction to interfere with the educational day of our students,” Superintendent Pattie Neill said.
Car drop off and pick up will not be affected, although parking could become more limited as the construction expands. Bus drop off and pick up will remain in front of the school building, but steps will be taken to make sure students are not in the vicinity of construction materials.
“Our first priority is to ensure that our students continue to receive excellent services and instruction as they do now. We are fortunate in Trussville City Schools that our faculty and staff work so well with our students. We thank you for trusting us with your children’s safety and education,” Neill’s letter read.
During the second half of the school year, the principals from each of the three elementary schools will be rotating with the buildings for six week increments. Neill hopes this will allow the faculty, staff, students and parents a chance to become familiar with those who will be leading the new elementary schools.
