From Trussville Tribune staff reports
Friday morning starts with rain that will be heavy at times and you may hear some thunder. Temperatures will start out in the high 40s or low 50s and fall throughout the day.
At noon on Friday, Jefferson and St. Clair counties will be under a winter weather advisory along with most of north Alabama that will last until 6 a.m. on Saturday. This means 1/4 to 2 inches of snow is expected for the area under the advisory. The amounts rise as you go north.
Friday afternoon, we’ll see the rain transition to a rain and snow mix as precipitation continues in the area. Locally, temperatures are not expected to fall below freezing until after 9 p.m. One inch or less of snow accumulation is expected in the Trussville, Clay and Pinson area.
Since this will come in the form of snow showers, just like rain showers, some areas may see snow and some may not. Driving conditions could become tricky after the temperatures fall below freezing later tonight, so be weather alert.
Saturday, temperatures won’t get out of the 30s, but Sunday will see lots of sunshine and highs in the 50s.
