TRUSSVILLE The National Weather Service in Birmingham has placed Jefferson and St. Clair counties under a a wind advisory until noon on Saturday, and the high wind gusts were already causing damage in the local area by late Friday night.
The NWS advisory warns of gusty northwest winds behind the low pressure system that brought rain and snow to the area throughout Friday.
According to Alabamawx.com, winds gusted to 36 mph at the Birmingham International Airport at 8:27 p.m. A tree fell in Pinson, causing a power outage. Will average 15-25 mph with gusts to 35 mph through the early morning hours.
