There’s not much time left.
With National Signing Day less than a week away, local standouts are facing a heavy rush of last-minute attention from college coaches across the region. From Hewitt-Trussville, senior Kyle Miskelley and junior Noah Igbinoghene have both bagged multiple scholarship offers this week.
Miskelley helped open holes for a physical Hewitt-Trussville running game in 2015. The departing senior has recently received offers from Minot State University and Delta State University.
Igbinoghene, who doubles as a track star for the Huskies, now has 12 scholarship offers in his pocket with an entire 2016 season still in front of him. The speedy athlete received invites from Appalachian State, South Alabama and Western Kentucky this week.
From Clay-Chalkville, three seniors have waited for months on an opportunity that has finally come.
Running back Brandon Berry, wide receiver Dez Williams and defensive lineman Cole Baker have recently seen their recruitment heat up. Baker welcomed his first offer from Mississippi College and quickly pulled in another from Delta State University.
Williams, who provided the Cougars with a shifty wideout as a transfer player from Pinson Valley this past season, has now received his second offer from Belhaven University in Mississippi.
Berry also attracted a pair of scholarship offers this week to push his total up to three. Reinhardt University and the University of Cumberland both extended offers to the slippery ball carrier.
National Signing Day is on Wednesday, Feb. 3.
