Austin Tucker, who has served as Hewitt-Trussville High’s offensive coordinator for the past two seasons, is leaving to become a graduate assistant at Auburn University.
HTHS head football coach Josh Floyd announced the news via his Twitter account.
“Coach Tucker has helped coordinate one of the best offenses in 7A Alabama the last 2 years,” Floyd’s Twitter post read. “We appreciate all of his hard work for our program. We will definitely miss Coach Tucker but we know this is a good opportunity for him and his family.
“We will immediately start looking for a new coach that will help us reach our goal of becoming a championship program both on & off the field.”
Tucker also coached the wide receivers.
Tucker came to Hewitt-Trussville after four years at Shiloh (Ark.) Christian as an assistant under Floyd, for whom he had also played. Tucker graduated from the University of Arkansas, where he played football from 2007-2010 and earned a bachelor’s degree in education. He started as the holder the last two seasons for the Razorbacks, and earned a spot om the SEC Academic Honor Roll.
