From Staff Reports
Recipients of the prestigious Gatekeeper awards presented during the Trussville Chamber of Commerce annual banquet on Saturday, were Bill Roberts in the individual category and Eddie Seal / Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home & Gardens in the group category.
Nominations are accepted from the community-at-large, and a committee comprised of the three previous years’ recipients in each category makes the final selection. This year, the awards were renamed the ‘Ned and Goldie Paine Memorial Gatekeeper Awards’ in memory of two outstanding servants in the community who passed away last year.
Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home encourages individual employees to get involved and give their time to various organizations, and they give to charities, schools, churches, and organizations through the giving of financial support, food, manpower and company resources.

He has twice served as President of the State Cemetery Association and currently serves as President of the Trussville Rotary Daybreak Club, which meets weekly. He also serves on two of Trussville’s City committees and boards: the Trussville Redevelopment Authority and the Public Safety Committee.

He was elected as board president in 2010 and still holds that position. Mr. Roberts spend numerous hours each week on school board business along with many days of work sessions and board meetings to ensure the students of Trussville receive a top quality education.
