From Staff Reports
BIRMINGHAM – Weather permitting, on Tuesday, March 15 at 9 a.m., the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) will perform a bridge inspection on the US-280 eastbound bridge over the Cahaba River at milepost 5.68, as follows:
This inspection will require the US-280 eastbound outside lane and shoulder to be closed in the area of the work. All travel lanes will be reopened to traffic no later than 3 p.m.
Also, between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m., ALDOT will replace the existing stripe and raised pavement markers on I-65 northbound and southbound, as follows:
- I-65 southbound ramp at Exit 252 (US 31) will have lane closures where work is being performed to provide adequate space for equipment and personnel to safely replace the striping and markers.
- I-65 northbound and southbound outside (right) and middle lanes will be closed at separate and various times to allow workers to replace the raised pavement markers from Exit 252 (US 31) to Exit 254 (Alford Avenue).
All ramp lanes will be reopened to traffic by approximately 5 a.m. Wednesday March 16.
Motorists are requested to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area. ALDOT thanks motorists for their patience during this Maintenance Operation to improve Alabama’s roadways.
