Great food, great weather and lots of fun were all on tap at the Clay-Chalkville football field on Tuesday afternoon in an event called Earth Alive that organizers hope to make a regular part of the Spring calendar.
Earth Alive is a joint venture by the choir programs at Clay Elementary, Chalkville Elementary, Clay-Chalkville Middle School and Clay-Chalkville High School to combine music, food, fun and the celebration of Spring.
“We are performing our Earth Alive Festival tonight and the kids are excited about it,” said Brian Cocke, Music Director at Chalkville Elementary. “We really hope that this program will become an annual event.”
Cocke said the name Earth Alive simply represents a celebration of the earth and of Spring.
All 350 choir students joined together on stage for the opening number “Let It Grow” from The Lorax movie, then each group took their turn performing individually.
Clay Mayor Charles Webster was excited about the event as well.
“The city was able to help them set up the stage and I believe it’s going to be a great event,” said Webster.
Several local churches, a local Boy Scout troop and several food vendors were on hand to add to the celebration.
