JEFFERSON COUNTY – On Friday, March 18, between 8 p.m. and 6 p.m. March 19, the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) will begin emergency bridge repairs at the following locations:
- I-65 northbound at the bridge over University Blvd. – remove the temporary concrete barrier rail. This will require the outside lane to be closed in the area the work is being performed.
- I-65 southbound from the bridge over 6th Ave. South to just south of the bridge over 8th St. South – relocate the temporary concrete barrier rail from the bridge over University Blvd. to the bridge over 8th St. South. This work will require the outside lane to be closed in the area the work is being performed.
Also on Friday, thru Monday, March 21, at 5 a.m. ALDOT will resurface the Eastbound Loop Ramp from the US-78 Interchange to Eastbound I-22. This work will require the loop ramp to be closed while this area is under construction.
All lanes are expected to be opened no later than 5 a.m., Monday, March 21.
On Sunday, March 20, beginning at 4 a.m. work will begin patching the rough pavement on I-459 northbound from Morgan Rd. to AL 150 in Hoover. This work will require the outside and middle lanes to be closed in the area the repairs are being made.
All lanes are expected to be opened no later than 6 p.m.
Motorists are requested to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area. ALDOT thanks motorists for their patience during this maintenance operation to improve Alabama’s roadways.
