Birmingham Police Lt. Sean Edward reports that detectives are conducting a homicide investigation following an incident that occurred Thursday, March 17, in the 600 block of 72nd Street South.
Officers from the East Precinct responded to a call that a person had been stabbed. Upon arrival, officers found the victim lying on her living room floor suffering from what appeared to be stab wounds to the body. The victim, identified as Roselyn Welton, 47, of Birmingham, was pronounced deceased at the scene by Birmingham Fire and Rescue. .
Preliminary investigation revealed the crime appears to be domestic in nature.
The victim was found by her relatives who came by to check on her because they had not heard from her in a couple of days.
“It is very evident that the perpetrator knew this victim and bringing the person responsible to justice, is a priority.”
