BRUSSELS, BELGIUM –UPDATE: The confirmed death toll has risen to 34. Twenty died from the subway bombing and 14 at the airport.
Just two days after Paris terrorist suspect Salah Abdeslam was arrested in Belgium, a string of terrorist attacks were unleashed on the city, with 28 confirmed dead so far and dozens wounded.
Two bombs exploded in the Brussels Airport killing 11. At least one of those explosion was believed to be a suicide bomber.
Not long after that attack, another explosion Maelbeek subway station in central Brussels killed at least 15 people and wounded 55 more.
At the time of Abdeslam’s arrest, police said they found evidence that he was planning more terrorist attacks, possibly in Belgium.
According to media reports, ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
