From Staff Reports
The Trussville City Schools Board of Education has voted to approve a new four year contract for Dr. Pattie Neill as Superintendent of Schools. Dr. Neill’s original contract was to expire June 30, 2016.
Board President Bill Roberts detailed many of Neill’s accomplishments during her tenure in Trussville including a successful ad valorem campaign, the building of the stadium, working with the mayor and city council to open Husky Parkway, successfully working with the Federal Court to zone the elementary schools, building two new elementary schools and the addition at the Paine campus.
In addition, the AdvancED Accreditation review was very successful with the Trussville City Schools having some of the highest scores awarded this year. TCS just completed State Department monitoring making scores in the Top 5 in the State of Alabama. All of these accomplishments were completed during Neill’s tenure with the school system.
“When other school systems look for a superintendent, I don’t want them to look at our,” said Roberts.
The only changes in the new contract are the dates which begin July 1, 2016 and go through June 30, 2020.
Neill’s leadership philosophy was reflected in her request that her salary remain the same with no increase in the new contract. Neill would only accept a raise if the faculty and staff also receive a raise.
“I hope the state legislature comes through with a raise for all of us this year,” said Neill.
Roberts said that with all the good things going on, it benefitted the school system to make this commitment to Neill and that she make the same commitment to the school system to lead them forward into the future.
“The board and I thank Dr. Neill for her hard work and the dedication to the faculty, staff, and students of Trussville and the community. WE look forward to many more years with Dr. Neill leading Trussville City Schools,” Roberts said.
Neill thanked the Board of Education for the new contract.
“I look forward to many more years in Trussville serving the faculty, staff, students and the community of Trussville. I appreciate this affirmation of hard work and the vote of confidence by the Board Members. This also affirms the teamwork inside the school system by principals, central office staff and hundreds of outstanding teachers. I promise to continue to lead Trussville onward and upward.”
