Do you really have to use the word “allegedly” when you have a security camera photograph of the man during the commission of the crime?

Never understood why the cameras are high up looking down…we are looking at a moron with a black shirt and a black and gold hat. Saints fan perhaps??? Other than that, Trussville Police needs to quit hanging out in parking lots on the phone and stopping vehicles driving 3 mph over the limit, and start doing some actual patrolling!

I agree that security cameras are not located in the correct places. Even stupid thieves know that a hat can hide their faces if the camera is mounted high.

And enough criticism of the Trussville police. They do an outstanding job. If you are driving over the speed limit, they have every right to stop you. You are breaking the law.

Good thing no one was hurt or injured … Bad thing is .. Hmmm Can’t think of one yet cause the money is backed up by FDIC.. And didn’t come out of anyone’s account

Did the guy even have a gun?! How about training the bank teller just shout “NO!” These thieves are cowards and when you surprise THEM, they usually run! In the off chance the guy doesn’t run, arm the tellers with tasers and let them zap the losers and call it a day!

What if he did have a gun? How are the tellers supposed to know? If someone comes up to you on the street and threatens you, are you just going to yell out no and hope for the best? Tellers are specifically trained to handle bank robberies and complying with them is the first thing that’s learned. Money can be replaced, but lives can’t.

Candace Smith it doesn’t appear that he had a gun in the pictures (but I don’t know for sure, I’m only guessing since the article didn’t mention a gun). I know the tellers are trained but it’s very poor training and caters to thieves. Employees need to be able to defend themselves and that’s why I suggested a taser.
You better believe I’d yell to any would be attacker! They do not like attention to be drawn to them. People are entirely too passive today and these punks know it. It’s all in timing and the element of surprise. I strongly recommend a self defense class. You learn so many useful tactics that don’t always involve a weapon (which is the last resort in any case… But one I will take to protect me and my kids).

FDIC … let break that down for you. Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. Where do you think they get the money? D’uh, taxpayers!

Man that 4800 didn’t hurt your pockets Mr. Tax payer.. Now let’s talk about all the other BS our money goes towards..

Andrea that’s way above a tellers pay grade to just assume a robbers intent is anything but life threatening, you never know what’s lerking around the corner outside possibly listening in on the robbers Bluetooth. I know I wouldn’t risk my life for a bank that probably pays $10.50 an hour and hounds you to open credit cards…just my personal opinion it wouldn’t be worth it.

As a teller who was robbed at gun point there was no time to pull out a gun or taser. My only response was to comply with the jerk pointing the most likely unregistered 357 Magnus at my head. Good luck, if you’re ever robbed

Why are people allowed to wear hats in the bank?! No hats or sunglasses allowed in the credit union- that deters robbers. You bet their face will be clear on a camera then!

We can play the “what if” game all day. My comment was directed to that specific occurrence. Valerie, I’m sorry you went through that. If you read the story and the comments, you would see that there wasn’t a gun mentioned and I said that if there wasn’t a gun involved, then they could have used a taser. However, the bottom line is that it’s terrible to be confronted by a robber or any person wishing harm on you. We all “risk our lives” every time we drive to work, go to the store, and even just sitting in our homes. I refuse to live in fear. I will do whatever is necessary to ensure my safety and I encourage everyone to do the same.
