JEFFERSON COUNTY –Gary Daniel of the Alabama State Troopers said in a statement Saturday afternoon that troopers are working multiple crashes on Interstate 59/20.
“Alabama State Troopers are working multiple crashes on I-20/I-59 in between Bessemer and Tuscaloosa County line,” according to the statement. “The first crash was northbound near mile marker 118 with an overturned tractor-trailer. That crash did not involve injuries and the roadway is now open. However, there should be traffic delays in the area for a short time until the traffic flow get clear out.”
The second crash occurred on the Southbound side south of mile marker 104. That crash was involving two tractor trailers with one tractor-trailer on fire. There were injuries in the second crash and one lane is open. A second lane should be opening up shortly.
There is also a vehicle fire on I-20/59 south near the 3 mile marker in Sumter County, but all lanes are open at this time.
