BIRMINGHAM — More than 3,000 people are expected to participate in the Annual March for Babies on April 30.
The event, which will take place at Uptown Park and Entertainment District, is projected to raise nearly $700,00 to fund March of Times programs and research, which are aimed at giving babies a healthy start.
Walkers will take a two mile route through the Uptown Entertainment District. The route will start and finish at Uptown Park on Richard Arington Jr. Boulevard North.
Teams can register and take group photos starting at 8 a.m., with opening ceremonies kicking off at 8:30 and the official start time being 9 a.m.
After the walk, participants can stick around for food, festivities and fun for all ages. There will also be a UAB NICU and CCN Reunion in conjunction with the event.
One out of every nine babies in Alabama is born prematurely, with there being around 380,000 premature births nationwide. March of Dimes has offered research, education, vaccines and more for more than 75 years.
