Welcome to the Local Legal Guide!
The Local Legal Guide is a featured online section on the TrussvilleTribune.com that profiles attorneys in our area. In today’s fast-paced society the legal realm is incredibly complex. Having an experienced, licensed, and caring legal professional to help you navigate these tumultuous waters is imperative because ignorantia legis neminem excusat (Latin for ignorance of the law excuses no one).
As an upcoming 1L at Cumberland Law School, I was thrilled with the opportunity to spend a few weeks meeting with and interviewing local attorneys. Having spent almost a decade working within the newspaper industry I saw the opportunity to launch the online Local Legal Guide as a fitting final edition to my media career.
In meeting, interviewing, and working with the attorneys who are being featured in the guide I was able to share in my love of not just the law, but also my love of and genuine aspiration to spend a lifetime helping people. I asked each of the featured attorneys why they decided to practice law; I was not at all surprised when each one of them responded with a reason that had its foundation in their inherent desire to help people.
The title that is given to attorneys is “Esquire” which is often seen following their name abbreviated as “Esq.”. This title is derived from the Latin word “sc?t?rius” or “scutum” which is literally translated to “shield bearer” or “shield”. I can sincerely say that every attorney that I had the pleasure of speaking with is the absolute embodiment of a “shield bearer” or “shield” for their clients. The featured attorneys offer their clients so much more than just legal advice and services: The featured attorneys utilize their legal expertise to shield their clients with all the protection, powers for amicable conflict resolution, and relief the law can offer for their specific legal matter.
Each of the attorneys featured is licensed by the Alabama State Bar to practice throughout the state of Alabama. A number of attorneys featured are also licensed to practice in other states, or hold other licenses and designations. The legal talent in and around Trussville, and on this side of Birmingham is beyond impressive – it is remarkable.
