CLAY – On July 12 from 6:30-8:30 p.m., Clay citizens will be gathering at Faith UMC in Clay for a drug awareness forum.
What started as a frustrated discussion on Facebook is now taking shape as a community event, allowing a forum for citizens to discuss the increased presence of drugs in the community and in local schools.
The forum will feature a question and answer session and various booths to allow attendees to gather information on how to get help and how to volunteer.
“At the end of the day we need to be educated on the issue and ways to help and get help,” said organizer Kevin Small. “Those struggling with this in their family need to know they are not alone. And the churches and community need to understand that you cannot lift someone up while looking down your nose at them.”
