PINSON – Shannon Galamore has announced her candidacy for Pinson City Council.
Galamore and her family have lived in Pinson since 1981. She graduated from Pinson Valley High School before going to the University of Montevallo to pursue a degree in mathematics, then a masters in secondary education and an education specialist degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Galamore is a resident of Pinson and has taught at Pinson Valley High School since 2006, in addition to coaching the varsity cheerleading squad.
Galamore said her overall goal is to continue to make Pinson a dynamic place to work and live, putting focus on bringing new businesses to Pinson, supporting the creation of Pinson’s own police department, revitalizing Main Street, upgrading city infrastructure and developing a collaborative relationship between city officials and citizens of Pinson.
“Having lived in Pinson for 35 years, graduating from PVHS, and currently serving as a teacher at PVHS, my passion is improving the city that I call home,” Galamore said. “I have chosen to live, work, and raise my family in Pinson, and now have a strong desire to serve the citizens of Pinson.”
During the summer, Galamore is working at the splash pad at Pinson Bicentennial Park.
“Parks and recreation facilities across Pinson have played a big role in the life of my family,” Galamore said. “My daughter and son grew up playing sports under the guidance of the Pinson Valley Youth Association. They played baseball, softball, and soccer, and also participated in track and cross-country. Sports made a big impact on their lives and I want to ensure these opportunities are available for future generations.”
Galamore is a member of Palmerdale United Methodist Church, where she’s served on the finance committee for three years.
