BIRMINGHAM –The Birmingham Business Journal released a ranking for school systems in the metro Birmingham area last week. The ranking was based on standardized test scores and listed the top 15 systems.
Trussville City Schools ranked fifth based on the scores, behind Mountain Brook, Vestavia Hills, Homewood and Hoover, respectively.
The third grade Reading and Math scores for Trussville were 60 and 82, while eight grade scores were 55 and 46. The average ACT score was 21.
Rounding out the top 15 systems were Oneonta, Shelby County, Alabaster, St. Clair County, Pelham, Pell City, Jasper, Walker County, Leeds, and Chilton County.
Absent from the rankings were Jefferson County and Birmingham City.
