TRUSSVILLE – Moda Boutique is having a one-year anniversary celebration on Saturday July 23.
“We are throwing a party to celebrate our customers and how they’ve supported us during our first year,” owner Kassi Porter said.
There will be “special treats” while customers shop, grab bags for the first 20 customers to make a purchase and 20 percent off the entire store. The 2016 Miss Alabama United States Pageant titleholders will also be in attendance for a meet and greet.
Moda Boutique is a sponsor of the Miss Alabama United States program, and Porter said she chose to sponsor this organization because of what they stand for.
“The United States system serves as such a positive platform for young women,” Porter said. “It provides a way for women to give a voice to those needing to be heard, lend a hand to those less fortunate, and be a compass for those daring to dream. It’s such an honor to be able to sponsor a program that touches so many lives and serves our state in such an amazing way.”
After attending the University of Alabama and earning a degree in apparel design, Porter said she knew she’d end up in fashion. Even from the young age of 3-years-old, Porter said she loved to shop and wanted to pursue a career in the field.
“After college, I took a job in the corporate world of banking, where I gained a lot of business knowledge,” Porter said. “However, my creative juices were diminished in that field. I had no outlet to express myself. That’s when I knew I had to follow my dreams and felt that opening a boutique was what I was truly created to do. I’ve never been more fulfilled in my life.”
Porter said her favorite part of working in the fashion industry is fostering relationships through customer service. She said she never expected that a small business could have such a great impact in the community, which has been rewarding.
“The most surprising thing has been realizing how much people shop,” Porter said. “Starting out, I was so worried that we would have too much merchandise, but the turn over has been so great that we place orders on a weekly basis to keep the racks full and our customers happy.”
Moda Boutique is located at 257 U.S. Highway 11. The celebration will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
