TRUSSVILLE – USA Football has released its complete list of all-tournament players at the 7on7 National Championship July 15-17, and some Hewitt-
Trussville Huskies collected individual honors.
Hewitt-Trussville went 7-3 overall, losing by a point in double-overtime to Hoover to be eliminated.
But several Huskies stood out individually and picked up honors, based on input from scouts, media and coaches.
Defensive back David Acfalle was a first-team pick and Nathan Helms, also a defensive back, collected second-team kudos.
Quarterback Connor Adair was selected as a second-team member. And, surprisingly, wide receiver Noah Igbinoghene collected second-team honors – even though he wasn’t in attendance. He was winning the AAU National triple jump championship. I guess that’s impressive enough.
No surprise was Clay-Chalkville’s Nico Collins as a first-team pick at wide receiver. He was dominant, unstoppable, even though he’d been competing July 5-9 at “The Opening” in Oregon, played in the Deerfoot Invitational July 13, and then at the national tournament July 14-16.
