TRUSSVILLE – The HTMS Honors Band has been selected to perform at the Alabama Music Educators Conference in Montgomery in January.
According to HTMS Band Director Brandon Peters, an invitation to perform at the AMEA Conference is the highest performance invitation a band can receive at the state level.
“It is an opportunity I have desired for our program since coming to Trussville over eight years ago,” Peters said.
The AMEA Conference draws more than 1,000 music teachers and musicians annually. During the conference, teachers attend clinics and presentations from masters in the field, and have the opportunity to hear the best performing ensembles.
High and middle school bands from all over the state compete in the application process, submitting recordings from previous performances and letters of recommendation, as the spots are limited. On average, 1-2 middle school bands are selected to perform each year.
“To say this is going to be an exciting year is an understatement,” Peters said.
