BIRMINGHAM – The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation after an incident on Tuesday.
The incident occurred around 10 p.m. in the 2100 block of 31st Avenue North.
Officers responded to the above location on reports of two people shot. Upon arrival, officers found Roger Cheatham, 31 of Birmingham, suffering form a gunshot wound to the body, and another victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the shoulder. Both were transported to UAB Hospital, and Cheatham succumbed to his injury Wednesday.
Investigators found that the victim and another male were inside a known drug house, according to residents in the area. A witness said they were outside the residence when three males forced their way in, and once inside they held everyone at gunpoint and began searching the residence for unknown items. The three suspects fled after they shot the two victims. They fled the scene in a purple Nissan Altima.
