TUSCALOOSA, Ala. –As the University of Alabama gets ready to welcome alumni back for Homecoming next week, head coach Nick Saban will have an alumni moment of his own Saturday, leading the Crimson Tide against his alma mater, Kent State University.
The Alabama football team wrapped up its shortened practice schedule on Thursday afternoon, putting together a 90-minute practice in shells at the Hank Crisp Indoor Facility.
The Crimson Tide will host Kent State this Saturday in an 11:01 a.m. CT kickoff at Bryant-Denny Stadium. The non-conference matchup will air live on the SEC Network, with Tom Hart, Andre Ware and Cole Cubelic calling the action. The two teams will meet for just the second time in the history of the two programs. The Tide defeated the Golden Flashes, 48-7, in Tuscaloosa in the 2011 season opener for both teams.
Following Saturday’s out-of-conference game, Alabama will meet Kentucky on Oct. 1 in its first Southeastern Conference home game of the 2016 season. The Tide is 36-2-1 against the Wildcats and 9-0 all-time in Tuscaloosa. Saban is 6-0 against Kentucky in his career, including a 3-0 mark at Alabama.
