BIRMINGHAM – The 7th annual Cahaba River Fry-Down will take place October 2 from noon-4 p.m. at Railroad Park.
Attendees can enjoy catfish prepared by competing corporate and community teams. Teams of judges will taste-test and distribute awards.
Admission is a $20 donation for adults, and children 12 and under get in free.
The main attraction of the event will be the fish fry-off but other activities include a beer garden featuring local craft brews, live music, games for children and wildlife education activities.
The event aims to build support for Cahaba conservation and bring education to the public about water quality, wildlife habitat and drinking water. The Cahaba River and its groundwater are a primary drinking water source for the Birmingham Water Works and metro city areas. The Cahaba River has more species of fish per mile than any other river of its size or larger in North America.
