BESSEMER – A 6-year-old girl was shot Friday morning on 30th Street South in Bessemer, according to WIAT.
The incident happened around 1:30 a.m., and neighbors say a 20-year-old was also shot.
Officers found the girl suffering from a gunshot wound to the back. The victim’s mother said her daughter was inside their home asleep when someone shot into the house. The child was taken to Children’s Hospital by ambulance, and was in serious condition at the time.
The bullet reportedly went through the 20-year-old, but he is allegedly okay. The child went into surgery after arriving at the hospital.
Another shooting was reported around 11:10 p.m. at the Dartmouth Avenue Convenience Store. Offices found a male victim lying on his back outside the store, suffering from a gunshot wound to the arm.
The victim said he was shot by a person he knows while inside the store. The victim was taken to UAB Hospital.
The Bessemer Police Department is searching for possible suspects, and also trying to determine if the two incidents are related.
