TRUSSVILLE – Local parade-watchers were treated to one of the longest Christmas parades in Trussville’s recent history. The annual Christmas parade was presented by Trussville Area Chamber of Commerce (TACC) through historic downtown Trussville on Saturday, December 10.
Prizes were awarded for the best decorated floats. Winners were: 1st place – Cub Scout Troop 245; 2nd place – Trinity Contractors; and 3rd place – Jack’s Restaurants. Winners will receive $100, $75, and $50, respectively, and will be recognized at the Chamber’s December luncheon.
Grand marshals for the parade were the Hewitt-Trussville Baseball Team, 2016 State 7A Champions. In recognition of the Chamber’s 70th birthday, there was a special float sponsored by Vulcan Tire & Automotive. A number of vehicles driven by area Shriners were also a big hit.
The day’s festivities concluded with the City’s annual Christmas tree lighting and live entertainment by members of the Hewitt-Trussville Choir at West Mall.
The chamber also presented its annual “Photogenic Contest,” and winners and alternates were also invited to ride in the parade. The winners were: Miss Tiny Merry Christmas-Charlotte Milligan; Miss Tiny Merry Christmas Alternate-Hadley Rae Holloway; Miss Little Merry Christmas-Maci Underwood; Miss Little Merry Christmas alternate-Mallory McKenna Cook; Miss Young Merry Christmas-Sara Caroline Cook; Miss Young Merry Christmas alternate-Ava Katherine Price; Miss Merry Christmas-Molly Womack; Miss Merry Christmas alternate-Elizabeth Christine Cook; Master Young Merry Christmas-Gage Jennings; Master Young Merry Christmas alternate-Owen Milligan; Master Junior Merry Christmas-Ethan Womack.
