ST. CLAIR COUNTY –According to the Alabama State Troopers office, a single-vehicle crash at 1:40 p.m. on Friday has claimed the life of a Vincent man.
Gavin Kane McCutcheon, 18, was killed when the 1990 Chevrolet GMT-400, in which he was a passenger, left the roadway on Logan Martin Dam Road and struck a tree.
McCutcheon was pronounced dead at the scene. The pickup was driven by Christopher Allen Bentley, 19, of Cropwell. Bentley was airlifted to UAB Hospital.
Neither occupant was wearing a seatbelt. The crash occurred 2 miles south of Pell City.
Nothing further is available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.

This is so sad. Why do so many people not wear seat belts? Should not have happened. Prayers for their families.

Seems as if in almost all of these traffic accident deaths the one(s) killed were not wearing seatbelts.

It is the myth that is spread that belts will only trap you in the car. statistically, very few cars catch on fire and kill. Statistically, flying through a windshield and impacting the ground with your body at 60 mph will do the it nearly every time.
