From The Trussville Tribune staff reports
TRUSSVILLE — Fox6 News Chief Meteorologist J-P Dice was the featured speaker at the monthly luncheon of the Trussville Area Chamber of Commerce Thursday.
The luncheon was sponsored by Jimmie Hale Mission, according to a release. The Jimmie Hale mission has been in Christian ministry for 74 years, and according to Executive Director Tony Cooper, they want to help people ‘get back to God, back to life, and back to work.’
J-P Dice has been a member of the WBRC First Alert weather team since August 2008. The most often asked question he gets is “Will we have snow?”
Severe weather season in Alabama is year-round, he said, and there is no “off” time in the weather business now, thanks to social media.
But another result of social media is that he now has more intimate relationships with his viewers. He even leaves his social media up and running during his weathercasts because he says, “being real” is the key to being successful in broadcasting.
The chamber also recognized its November Customer Service Award recipient. The nominator had this to say: “Yesterday I went to Express Oil Change and Tire Engineers on Chalkville Mountain Road to get one of my tires plugged. They were happy to help me but noticed something else wrong, and the tire needed to be replaced.
“Thankfully the tires were still under warranty, and I wouldn’t have to pay for a new one, but I’d have to come back the next day. Today I was immediately greeted by the same two guys. Sam and Matt remembered me and asked how I was.
“We chatted through the whole process, and I really felt like I knew them my whole life. I was treated with special care and attention even though my service wasn’t a ‘money making service.’
“They took care of a couple other issues, too, and even gave me an old tire that was going to be thrown out to make my son a tire swing for Christmas. Express Oil Change and Tire Engineers on Chalkville Mountain Road is my ‘go to’ place”
