BIRMINGHAM — Three people were injured in a shootout that started after a holdup at a Marathon gas station in Hueytown, according to Carol Robinson.
Around 10 p.m. Tuesday night a female clerk and her spouse were leaving the Marathon, which is located on Johns Road at Virginia Lane, when a man confronted them and demanded their money.
The suspect began shooting at the couple, with the male victim returning fire. The male victim was shot once, and the female victim had her face grazed. The suspect was hit multiple times.
Both victims were treated and released from a local hospital, while the suspect required surgery.
