BREAKING: NBC’s Matt Lauer fired from TODAY show for inappropriate sexual behavior
From The Trussville Tribune staff reports
NEW YORK, N.Y. –NBC network officials announced Wednesday morning that longtime Today show host Matt Lauer had been fired.
“Today” co-anchors Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb announced Lauer’s firing.
According to the network, they received a detailed report of inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace by Lauer from another employee.
The report was received on Monday night. Lauer’s termination was announced Wednesday morning after an investigation on Tuesday.
The network said that this was the first complaint about Lauer in his more than 20 years with the station, but there was reason to believe the incident was not isolated.
“Our highest priority is to create a workplace environment where everyone feels safe and protected, and to ensure that any actions that run counter to our core values are met with consequences, no matter who the offender,” NBC News Chairman Andrew Lack said.
Details of the allegations have not yet been released.
