Thursday evening the Trussville City Council promoted police Lt. Eric Rush to captain before a crowded chamber hall packed with his fellow officers.
Rush has been a police officer in Trussville for the past 21 years, and he has led the administration division under Chief Jeff Bridges, which consists of the Investigations Department, Youth Services, Training, School Officers and the City Jail.
In other matters, the Council:
— Approved Zoning ordinance amendment shipping center parking requirement;
— Approved Ordinance to amend delivery portion business license ordinance;
— Approved a resolution to award lowest bidder for baseball field improvements;
— Approved a resolution to adopt Stormwater Management Program Plan;
— Approved a library change order to furnish and install make-up water to boiler and to add exhaust fan in toilet;
— Approved merit increases for dispatch, fire department;
— Approved the hiring of library workers effective Feb. 3, 2018: Teasa Thigpen and Jacob Sartain;
— Approved the upgrade of Shawn Robinson to Skilled Laborer;
— announced the next regular Council meeting to be held Thursday, Dec. 21 beginning at 5:30 p.m.;
— Approved TASTO training for eight SRO officers in Orange Beach on June 4-8, 2018; and
— Approved ARPA Conference for attendees Peterson, Smith, Wilson, and Zeitvogel;
