ST. CLAIR COUNTY –Alabama Department of Transportation plans to close the right lane in both directions for a 10 mile stretch of Interstate 59 in St. Clair County beginning Monday. The work will last through Friday.
Beginning at 7 a.m., Monday, January 8, weather permitting, the ALDOT will close the right lane of Interstate 59 northbound for paving operations from north of the St. Clair Springs Exit (MP 156) to south of the Ashville Exit (MP 166).
All travel lanes are expected to reopen at approximately 4 p.m. on Monday.
This same lane closure will be in place from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday, January 9, thru Saturday, January 13.
Beginning at 8 a.m., Monday, January 8, weather permitting, the ALDOT will close the right lane of I-59 southbound for clearing operations from south of the Ashville Exit (MP 166) to north of the St. Clair Springs Exit (MP 156).
This lane will be closed for the removal of trees and debris from the clearing operation.
All travel lanes are expected to reopen at approximately 5 p.m. on Monday.
ALDOT stated that motorists are requested to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival and departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area.
