From The Trussville Tribune staff reports
The Alabama Pork Producers are in search of Bama’s Best Pork Ribs and they launched a contest to find them.
The contest runs through April 2 on Facebook and Instagram and asks fans of ribs to help steer them to a winner.
Restaurants can range from hometown hidden gems to well-known favorites, but the Alabama Farmers Federation’s Guy Hall said
“We’re looking for the best ribs in Alabama, from smoked to grilled and from simply seasoned to slathered in sauce,” said Hall, the Federation’s Pork Division director. “Pork is an important part of the American diet, and we’re excited to spotlight the most desirable restaurant rib recipes in the state.”
A panel of judges, including an Alabama pig farmer, will visit the Final Four restaurants in April. The winner will be announced in May to kick off summer grilling season.
The winning restaurant will receive a plaque and $500 and will be featured in the Alabama Farmers Federation’s Neighbors magazine in June. Each finalist will also receive a plaque.
One restaurant will receive a cash prize — and bragging rights — as the People’s Choice Award winner.
